it's been over a year since I've done a Journal entry? kinda pathetic

well, to give a quick update; I've moved, not out of country or state or anything, but to some shiny new digs on the east bay. already I'm much MUCH happier about it. could even see myself living here for a few years by choice. it's stunning what a psychologically depressing effect the old place had pretty much the moment of move in. it also made me realize some things about how I treat the various apartments and living in general, and I'm working on making my apartment not merely a place I sleep and keep my stuff, but an actual home. which I historically have not done. Just little things, mind. Like actually hanging a picture or two on the walls, buying furniture and appliances that aren't completely disposable, and having an actual place for things instead of merely left in boxes or stacked/piled on the floor.

on the other hand, at the moment, I do not have a scanner, so nothing new will be forthcoming for a little while yet. I was never happy with the canon Pixma scanner I had, and when Mom's printer ate itself, it didn't take much thought to ship her mine. fortunately she's loving it in all the ways I did not, so it's found a good home. my next scanner will be a wide format 11x17 so I can finally scan my drawings in one single scan rather than 2 and then merging them in one. the big issue with the Pixma was that the corners weren't true 90degrees and getting the two scans to line up properly was pretty frustrating.

overall, things are going pretty well...and there's some plans on the horizon that when they come to fruition will vastly improve my general disposition, so yay.

so, the internet was out for the past 3+ months...but now it's back on! WOOT!

so hopefully I'll be more active again, figured now was a good time to renew my membership as well

so whats new with everyone?

so I'm actually drawing fairly regularly, and I've got a bit of a drawing bug going, and not too eager to let it go, so here we're goin!

right now I'm trying to expand and re-do my Imperial Guard lesbian regiment, the Prescian 38th. I'm trying to add the remaining kill team members, as well as re-draw the existing ones. Both Pixie and Sereph, I think can stand a full remake. I'm mostly happy with Specs, but I think I can do SOME refining as well.

I also want to get a couple more Red drawings, and a Molly or two in as well...

oh, and of course, I'm still working on the ever lovely Snicket's amokiri...now like a YEAR late...gods!

so yeah, I've been in a slump for a while now...can't actually get anything past the beginning/early middle stages...been TRYING to work on :iconpersnicketese:'s amokiri...and I've got it a ways in...but had to put it on hold due to total lack of ability to draw it...

I finally, FINALLY managed to finish something...Good Ol' Red to the rescue...but honestly, I'm nowhere near as pleased with it as I should be...but for a first drawing back, I guess it'll do. hopefully I can keep up some momentum, and develop some inspiration again.

:iconpersnicketese: I promise you will get your kiri...I just can't promise when

at long LONG last, I swear I think the last AmoKiri I gave away was like 5k or something..., someone won the AmoKiri.

and the winner is....

:iconpersnicketese: !!!!!

followed oh so closely by :iconpipinghotsoulpie: and :iconladydarkstar: but the cookie goes to :iconpersnicketese: who's drawing will be done just as soon as I finish my current one and get more details on her lovely character.

ok so no one got the 13k, or the 13013....so your LAST chance is the 13131 Amokiri! c'mon people!

also, as a random thing that hits my swiss cheese-like brain at 4am...the lyrics "every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking isn't thinking of" are really quite profound and deep...

First off:

ok ok so i'm five hunnert somethin into the 12k...coming up...lucky number 13 so here's the deal you get the 13,000 screen shot, or the 13,013th shot or even the 13,131 shot (going on an I palindrome I theme here) and you will get a drawing of your very own.

those of you who end up finding me because of my photography (at this rate it should have plenty of time to improve by the kiri) what I will do if you wish is make a proper print (not a DA print, but an actual "go to the camera store and have them print" print)of any photograph in my gallery and mail that print to you. I won't commit to a size before I actually find out what that'll cost me to do, but it'll be bigger than wallet size at least ;)

yes you people who tolerate me for my drawings can choose a photo as well.

those who think they're getting jyped having had drawings before, keep in mind your drawing will take me at LEAST 5 hours of actual drawing (not counting doodling, researching, tearing up the half finished figure and starting from scratch, etc...) and at California's current min wage rate of $8.00 an hour means your drawing will be worth at least $40.00 (no you can't have fries with that) so nyeah :P

but you now have three chances to get the elusive (so elusive I can't give it away) Amokiri! get ter clickin

ok, so I won an 8gig Ipod nano (gunmetal case with a camera...sexy) from work

thing is, I've got an ipod video (first gen) already that I hardly use.

now I think that the new one will actually be of more use to me so I've decided to give away my old one away.

anyone interested? I want it to go to a good home. not just someone who's already filled theirs up or something.

ah well I'll find someone to give it to.

So this past weekend I went on a bit of a shopping spree, and blew my entire tax return on the DSLR I've been lusting after for months...and a new desktop computer to go along with it. the computer was justifiable as properly editing high quality (well the technical aspects are high quality...the photos themselves...well time will tell) photography is pretty well impossible on an anemic little 10" netbook. And honestly, what would be the point of a DSLR otherwise?

so my new camera is the Nikon D5000, I got the two lens kit so I have a 12-55mm and a 55-200mm (well I will as soon as they get the 55-200 in stock in a couple days)and plan to take many insane numbers of photographs. I should post these to my photo account, but I so rarely even check that account, I fear I'll just end up never uploading anything at all.

so expect a mix of busty girl drawings and random photography to be filling these pages. between the two, my updates should be far far more common than they've been of late.

so last night i lost another close friend. I guess I can't hold it against her, I suppose she's trying to do right with the kid...but it still hurts, and I'm left with the impression that I was just a great big mistake. decisions have been made, and once again I'm disposable...
it's not so much the ending (though yeah that hurt a lot) as the reconciliation letter to...well it wasn't me. explaining what a mistake I was...maybe I'm wrong, I doubt I'll ever know as she's excised me from her existence with the clear understanding that we'll never speak again.

I feel like I'm in a bad John Cusack movie... (I accept that many might find "bad" and "John Cusack movie" needlessly redundant, and you'd likely be both right, and NOT a child of the 80's)

it seems I've a knack for being that guy who appears right when you need someone really badly to be a friend and care for and love you without question. to be the person who doesn't think you're worthless or ugly or unlovable and in fact, knows you're really a very special and wonderful person. and then...later, when one realizes that they are special and beautiful and such...well...I guess they realize that there's a better life out there than one involving me.

I'm tired of being the disposable friend. I'm tired of being told that I'm special and loved one minute than being either tossed out wholesale or simply put away until they need someone to make them feel loved again. Of having people decide that I'm nothing at all special after all, and nothing I say or do means anything. I'm tired of my life feeling like a bad 80's date movie...only without finding out in the end that the hot in a nerdy way foreign exchange student has secretly loved me from the moment she saw me, and that I was a fool, a FOOL to waste my time pining for the blond cheerleader bitch (who everyone knows is totally fake and shallow anyway).  honestly, I've no idea where I'm going with this...all the 80's movies followed pretty much exactly the same script...and I digress...

California is becoming more and more of a new beginning as my old life abandons me wholesale. I've one loved one left that, were she to leave, would make it like 09 basically didn't happen...

you know what? maybe I'm full of shit, maybe it's all in my head. or maybe I really am just a loser, I don't know anymore.

but honestly, if one feels the need to reassure me that I am in fact a loser who's full of shit. please feel free to reassure me quietly, to yourself...in hell

well 09 is just about over...and a lot has happened. some good, some bad....and in the balance of things I would have to say that this was a pretty lousy year.

found some love, lost some love, had my heart broken pretty thoroughly, spent most of the year living with family of one form or other because I couldn't afford to pay my own rent.

but now, well now I'm in San Francisco (well...South San Francisco anyway) in a better job and my own place again.

2010 is a new year, a new decade, and I hope, a new beginning.

the new year needs to be better, it really can't get much worse...well thats not true, it can always get much worse. but I really hope that this time things get better.

so...new years resolutions

1) get out more and actually enjoy being in a new state.

2) get that camera I've been drooling over and start seriously working on my photography skills

3) get my motorcycle endorsement and a motorcycle so I can go places to work on my photography skills

4) write more, particularly about the adventures I have riding my motorcycle and taking pictures

5) do something awesome on my birthday and have a great day...my last birthday was miserable, honestly one of the worst days in as long as I can remember...if the world had opened up and swallowed me, I wouldn't have cared.

6) draw more...yeah I pretty much make this one every year, and overall I think I tend to draw a bit more every year

7) get healthier, lose weight, get back to the point where I can run again

we'll see how it all goes. but so far california's been going pretty good for me, despite the insane rent. and I think this new start really has a good chance of working out.

So here's to the death of 2009, and the begining of 2010. may everyone's coming year be everything they want and need it to be.

so lease was signed, and it'll be ready in a week. we'll also be flying back to chicago to get our stuff and the cats...I miss my kitties so much!

nothing's been updated because I don't have a scanner currently, and lacking a scanner I simply don't really draw. HOWEVER knowing that the light at the end of the tunnel is near, Ive suddenly regained the drive to draw.

I honestly think this upcoming drawing may very well be one of my best works yet...knowing that I can't even scan it for at least a couple weeks means that I've got plenty of time to put in TONS of tiny details in. and of course, it's steampunk wich is just full of awesome to begin with :D I'm really excited about this one, and the recipient, I hope, will be equally excited about it.

so who else is trying the NaNoWriMo this year? I've got a few ideas in the pipe, and have mostly figured out a good ftl system for the story I'm working on...now to come up with the unimportant little details like characters, plot, and conflict...you know, the easy stuff ;)

and on a final note, it's snow and my anniversary tomorrow, we actually remembered it this time o.O so hopefully we'll get a chance to do something fun.

anyway, thats pretty much it, have fun guys!

My god! people who've grown up out here have NO idea what they have. the Bay Area is absolutely stunningly gorgeous!

so ass, I've got a 70 mile each way commute. I leave the house at about 6am, and am lucky to get home before 9 at night.

on the plus side, the scenery on the way is nothing less than stunning. I can't help but constantly bask in the beauty surrounding me. and noticing that no one else seems to give it the slightest bit of attention.

my co-workers also have no idea how good they've got it. I can't do anything but chuckle when they complain about their job, or the management, or anything really, going from a shop where I had to buy everything to a shop where someone was raising a huge stink because he had to pay for the flashlight he lost...man, spoiled! and believe me! I'm enjoying the spoilage as much as I can.

things have so far gone quite well for me, QUITE well! I'm making at least double what I was making back in chicago, they gave me a camera, and now I'm being trained on the jetter (which should at least double what I'm making NOW...so quadruple what I made in chicago...) the shift isn't going to be the best...I'll be working 2pm to 10pm, but I get weekends off, and it means I miss the worst of some truly evil traffic. and in truth, I've worked MUCH worse schedules in my time. and really....WEEKENDS OFF (yeah I had that in chicago, but I also didn't make enough money to really make it worth working in the first place)

it's looking like the apartment should be ready by the end of the month, I hope, meaning a quick hop back to chicago to pack up, and get the cats, and back to settle into an apartment thats NOT 70miles away from work. I'll be starting the new shift after the chicago trip, so I don't have to worry about all that till after I'm in the new place.

and once settled, my plan is to work my ass off, save up, get my camera, take the MSF course in spring, and get my motorcycle :D oh, and take a trip or two to visit a lovely friend, maybe even fly her out here...finally these won't simply be pipe dreams, but actual obtainable things, and I figure winter's the perfect time to work my ass off anyway, not only because it's our busy season, but because there's not really much else to do BUT work durring winter anyway. so save and pack it away, and I'll have a nice little egg (though in truth I'll be getting the camera at the earliest convinience, but the motorcycle can and will wait till spring)

I'm also hoping to start drawing again once I'm settled, and have a scanner again. being so unsettled and cramped as I am here has really sapped my creative energies...
but soon, soon I'll be settled in and I expect a resurgence of artings!
