Unappriciated Beauty

I was captivated by the quality of the painting on an otherwise unimpressive building. and then I realized there was a homeless person sleeping in the corner.

and it made me sad to think that life has tossed him about so roughly that he likely no longer even noticed the beauty that surrounds him.

when we cease to see and create beauty around us, when everything becomes drab and ugly and forgettable, I think we begin to lose what makes us humans, makes us Alive. and it's very sad and troubling.
