Knife in the dark

so...I've been playing some Final Fantasy XII lately, not very far into it yet, I've just now gotten to the point where I can have gambits, but I don't have more party members so in fact, I can't use them. anyway, as you may know, there's no character in the game that looks like this. so what was my point? well, every time I play a FF game it spawns a series of physically improbably dressed characters.

I've no actual idea who she's supposed to be, or what she's supposed to do.
