this is Pixie, one of the regiment's elite scouts. she's cute, adorable, redheaded and freckled, and has easily the foulest mouth in the entire Regiment. of the Regiment she pretty much gets along with men from other regiments the best. she likes to drink and gamble and she's a notorious ladiesman...er...woman. in general she has a great deal in common with most other soldiers.
so..the Regiment. I've had this thought pop into my brain to form a Warhammer 40k regiment comprised entirely of lesbians. how is that you ask? simple. their world had a mutation caused by an unnoticed chemical in the soil that results in the population of male to female being just shy of 2 to 1. not enough to force women into the role of brood mare or anything, but enough that there's serious social pressure about women marrying men (sometimes multiple men) and having families. there are of course a faction of the population that will not do this. lesbianism, in this culture is just about the biggest taboo, and is utterly socially unacceptable. so when the Imperium cycles through and demands the mustering of regiments for the cause, there's a culling. this seems to many to be very cruel, and it most certainly is. but in the end it's far preferable to the other alternatives that had previously been tried (and failed) in the vastness of the Imperium there's power and glory to be had even by women, unlike on their homeworld where they'll be forever forced to either live a lie, or be outcasts without power, wealth, influence, or even basic civil rights. the commander of the regiment has worked very hard to make her regiment an extremely effective fighting force, specializing in city fighting and close quarters combat, this success has afforded her a fair amount of power, allowing her to replenish her ranks with new drafted women rather then having them randomly thrown into the all male regiments filled with the very same men who drafted and exiled them for not sleeping with men. in this way, at least, they're spared a bit of their own world's intolerance, and in many cases violence against them.
there will likely be more characters each with her own motivations and quirks.
